Hi people,
Thought it was time for an update, and who better to do one than me? After all, I'm the one who thought of it. Well, we got voted "Best Rock Band in East Tennessee" by you, the readers of Knoxville's News Sentinel! I always said the News Sentinel was the best paper, and it turned out I was right. I used to like Metro Pulse, but they didn't vote us "Best Band" this year, so... you see where my loyalties lie. We also got the rough mixes back for our album and turned in some revisions. This is an uncomfortable dance between band and mixer that will likely continue for some time, until I'm either satisfied or give up, whichever comes first.

Our producer RyanTaterThumbsThatSoundsCrazierNHellJohnson has invited us to perform with his band, 10 Years, at their homecoming show on Wednesday, Nov. 21 at Blue Cat's here in Knoxville. We're working out a good set for you people right now, yes. I'm learning the solo to "Freebird" and Tilmon is getting fitted for a nice gown. We're all anxious to play again, it seems like it's been at least a month... and it has.

If I were to throw out a guess — and this is just a guess — I'd say we'll have the next release ready to go by the first of the year. After that, we'll start touring again and all that jazz. New merch line with a couple of new items, new look, new attitude! Well, maybe not, but we'll have some new shirts and patches. Sorry we haven't been back to your hometown in a while. I just didn't see much of a point in tearing ass around America pushing a two-year-old album, so we'll get back to it when we get everything wrapped up with this new stuff. We've even talked with a few like-minded bands about doing some runs together (that's industry talk for "multiple shows"), so that could pan out to be something pretty interesting.

Non Plague-related, I helped scored a short film called Static that got a pretty good buzz goin' 'round these parts. I don't think it's available online, but check it out if you get a chance. Also, my old band, The Undead, released a CD called Still Undead After All These Years that's got me doing my best Marky Ramone impression on a bunch of tracks. Pick it up by clicking here. Back to 'Plague stuff, I'm told the Undead / 'Plague split 7" on NBR in Germany is still on, but there were some issues with the artwork and a couple of other things that have been holding it up. One of our labels told us that we broke a pressing plant once, so I guess anything's possible. When it comes out, I'd like use it as an excuse to go to Germany and party. I'll see if we can make that happen.

Let's talk soon...

Sept. 25, '07

So after not keeping any of you informed for the last few months, I decided that it just may be time to give you an update... hehe. Anyway, I think that most bands writing an update/blog of this nature would now take the time to say something like, "Oh man! We're recording the best album EVER! We're playing the biggest shows we've EVER played! All these crappy labels are coming to make us crappy offers! There's the MOST BEAUTIFUL girls all over us ALL the time now! Things are just going AMAZING for US!!!"

Well... I ain't gonna feed you all that bullshit like all those other bands do. The bottom line is we've been practicing like we always have, and we sound amazing... but you already knew that. And our album is being mixed by this guy who's supposed to be real good named Mike D., and even though the guy who produced the damn thing, Mr. Ryan "Tater" "Thumbs" Johnson from the band 10 Years won't unleash it on us yet, it is supposed to be sounding amazing, fuckin' a. Also, we've done a few shows over the past few months. A couple of them were good, most sucked giant donkey gonads. But that's why we are who we are... we're like roaches man (gorgeous roaches with women following us everywhere), we don't go anywhere, we're here to fuckin' stay.

There's your update. Stay tuned. All the Knoxville fans, keep your ears open for a possible show in the next couple of months...

Yours truly,
- D. Dammit

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Tracking for The American Plague's new record is officially done! And to say that it has FAR exceeded our expectations would be a HUGE understatement. We went in about a month ago with some great songs and great ideas, but we didn't expect it to sound this damn good going to the mixing house. Big props to Ryan "Tater" "Hydro" "Thumbs" "Thumbface" Johnson from the band 10 Years for producing a true masterpiece of a record. We really love what we have done for this new album and we truly believe that you're gonna love it too. Also, be sure to check out the latest studio blogs on our MySpace.com page here. So now the record's gonna get mixed, mastered, replicated and then shipped off to your grubby, rock'n'roll-fiending hands. Hang tight and we'll have more news for ya soon!

May 27, '07

We're still pounding away at the recording and things are moving along quite nicely. We went in with around 17 new songs and I believe we'll have 13 finished by the end of it. I doubt all of them will make the cut for the new album, but it's hard to speculate so early on. To check out the most current studio blog, visit The American Plague's MySpace page here. Tilmon wrapped up drum tracking on Thursday evening, Dave is currently finishing up his bass tracks and I'll be starting on guitars later this week. There's a solid 'Plague interview over at RockConfidential.com, jump on over there and check it out. I hope y'all are enjoying the long holiday weekend, and look for some show updates soon!

So, you may have noticed we're not booking many live shows right now — that's because we've been in "pre-production" getting ready to "lay down" a new "album of hits" (industry-talk, for y'all that don't know). We've got about 11 new songs written and a few more on the way — don't know how many will make the final cut yet, but we hope to start recording in about 5 weeks. I know it's clichè for bands to say how great their new material is and how it's evolving and growing and becoming something so fantastically new and wonderful, so I'll spare you all that shit and just say that I believe it's the best stuff we've ever done — beyond that, you're free to make your own judgments. I predict we'll do a bunch of behind-the-scenes studio stuff for this one, so stay tuned on that!

Video whiz and Feedback Symphony Music partner Scott W. Lee is wrapping up our second music video from God Bless the American Plague: a powerful visual rendition of "War Song." This vid will be quite different from "Highwayman," and Scott's done a bang-up job of editing the whole thing together (once you see it, you'll get what I mean). You can expect to view it right here on the interweb in a week or so. "War Song" is also our #1 track off iTunes right now, so go snatch it! I also want to let the ladies know that this video features Dave Dammit in his underwear.

We've got some cool new shoes thanks to our main man Steve at T.U.K. Shoes — he caught the 'Plague in Nashville with the N.Y. Dolls a few months back and was kind enough to re-shoe on the entire band. Thus, tonight's AmericanPlague.com news broadcast is brought to you by T.U.K. Shoes: Remember kids, if it ain't T.U.K., it ain't worth a... well, who else makes blue suede loafers!? And yes, I got a pair.

Lastly, just got confirmation The 'Plague will be supporting Kentucky rockers Black Stone Cherry at Blue Cat's on Thursday, Feb. 15. We'll be playing lots of these new jams I was alluding to earlier. Tickets for the show are available right now, get 'em by clicking here! A big Knoxville all-ages gig is also in the works with our friends Straight Line Stitch — more about that when I get the details. Stay up!

Sorry it's taken a bit to get the official word out here. You may have heard / guessed that the national release date for God Bless the American Plague has been pushed back (to October 17, 2006), but with good reason; Dr. Cyclops, the label that was originally scheduled to release God Bless this month, has partnered with Los Angeles-based Long Live Crime Records to co-release the album.

The promotional campaign will be exponentially larger and Long Live Crime / Dr. Cyclops need the extra time to get everything in place, hence the Oct. 17 release. We think this is a great deal all the way around, and what it means for YOU, dear consumer, is that it'll be much easier to pick up a copy at your local music emporium or at your favorite online retailers. How ya like them apples? Seriously though, thank you for giving a shit about what we do, without your support there's no way we could be doing it! We'll be back on the road in a couple of months and are anxious to road-test some of our new material to familiar ears (or to people who've never heard us... either will work). We've also got new merchandise on the way — guys' AND girls' tees, stickers, buttons and posters. Pics will be posted soon...

Lastly, you may have noticed some fancy and fantastic rollover imaging on the site now (intro page, nav menu, etc). These are not flash files. Rest assured we are still a flash-free website and are keeping it old-school... that is, until Mike Ice can figure out Flash 8 or we pay someone to do it.

Although we were quite busy dropping a rock deuce on Tennessee with JoeBuck last weekend, we still managed to find time to approve the final edit of the "Highwayman" video. I won't lie, it's frickin' rad, but don't take my word for it... in less than a week you'll be watching it right here.

Thanks to everyone who came out to Blue Cat's in Knoxville last night for the 'Plague / Buckcherry / RocknRoll Soldiers show. Tons of new faces, all were rocked! Two Tennessee shows with JoeBuck this week — get ready, motherfu*kers! In the meantime, a couple of pics from last night. Enjoy!

(More band shots were taken but my girlfriend's sister deleted them so she could take hundreds of pictures of Josh Todd... d'oh!)

Welcome to AmericanPlague.com REDUX!!! In case you've been out of the loop, here are some recent happenings with the 'Plague: The fine folks at Dr. Cyclops Records will be releasing God Bless the American Plague nationally this summer in a cool new format. This jewel-case version will have a new full-color cover and layout complete with lyrics, photos and the same murderous rock'n'roll from the limited-edition 2005 box set. The CD will arrive in stores this summer but hits iTunes in a couple of weeks... more on this as we get it.

We just wrapped a video for "Highwayman" with Scott W. Lee of 35 Degrees North. The shooting went great and you'll be able to see it right here VERY soon!

The 'Plague also took a day trip to the studio recently to record two cover songs: "Two Headed Dog," for a Roky Erickson tribute compilation entitled I Think of The Demon, and the Danzig classic "Twist of Cain," for Icons of the Underground: Vol. I. These are both unique comps in that all the proceeds from the sale of I Think of The Demon. Both discs will be out around summertime, so keep checking back at AmericanPlague.com for purchasing details.

Thanks for stopping by and please remember to update your bookmarks if ya need to. It's good to be back on the web!
